CABATUAN AGRICULTURE OFFICE CITED FOR RICE PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION

The Municipal Agriculture Office was given a Plaque of Gratitude by Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) for the successful implementation of Certified Rice Seeds Distribution Component of Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Program. The ceremony was held at DA-WESVIARC Gym last March 11, 2021 and the plaque was awarded by PhilRice-Murcia, Negros  Manager Dr. Gerardo Estoy.

During the ceremony, PhilRice stressed the importance of the LGU-Cabatuan in the implementation of the program especially the leadership of Mayor Ronilo O. Caspe. Mayor Caspe has prioritized agriculture development through his “Balik Uma” Program. Under the local rice program, the municipality had produced 19,965.55 metric tons of rice with average production of 3.9 metric tons per hectare and valued at PhP299,348,250.00. the Municipality of Cabatuan becomes a net exporter of rice as its annual production exceeds the per capita consumption of 113 kilograms per year.

Also, a consortium of Department Agriculture, Bureau of Agricultural Research, Philippine Rice Research Institute, and the International Rice Research Institute awarded the Cabatuan Agriculture Office Certificate of Appreciation for its collaborative effort of the project Pest Risk Identification and Management. The said project is expected to project pests incidence and how to manage it.
